Creating a Website – Learn to overcome this building block

January 14th, 2008 · 1 Comment

If you are looking to create a website to make money online there are many factors you need to think about before you do this.

Creating a website is not difficult as there are many, many programs online that will help you create that website within 30 minutes. Sometimes it takes longer for the web hosting company to set up your account then to actually build your site.

Here are some things to think about if the ONLY reason you want to create the website is to make money.

1. It will not happen overnight – there are many places you can “buy” a premade website and have it up and running within a couple of hours. Just remember you are not the only one that is doing this and most of the time the content within that website you are paying for is duplicated over and over again…for you, then next person, the next person, etc…. Many times you are not able to change much of the content of the pages, yes maybe some of the keywords but if you are not using those keywords within the body of content then all that work still will not help you.

2. Keep with a theme – If you are going to sell dogs collars don’t have another page to sell jewelry also. I have seen many of these “mini-malls” that you can purchase and the companies will stock them……Yes, but how many people actually do a keyword search for “online shopping” or “mini mall”. If people are looking to buy they will put in what they are wanting to purchase (or get more information on). I want to buy a 14k gold plated bird necklace. So when you are creating your website to make money online, think about what you will be selling. Whether it will be a product or a service. Whatever it is, on the description page try to think of how someone may type in that to find YOUR product.

3. Taking the next hot product – If you decide you want to promote the next hot product online think if you really do want to as many, many other people could be promoting it also, and some of the promoters have been doing it for years…..Can you compete? If you believe that you can..Go for it! But the amount of money you make may be short lived. Yes, the money may be good for 3-6 months, if you are lucky, but what will you do then? Find the next hotest product to promote……..

4. Do research on what you are interested in – Is there a market for it? You may find that the knowledge you have does not have much competition for. I have seen informational websites on horses, wolves and many other different animals……I bet even though there is not alot of searching for what they have, the visitors they are getting are extremely targeted to them and in that respects can help them generate income online.

5. Scams – If it sounds to good to be true….it probably is….If you are thinking about paying for information from a person to help you make money online in 3 days…yea, yea, lots and lots of money……take a look real close at the sales page….and if you will notice at the bottom of these sales pages it says a disclaimer of “results are not typical”. Keep your wallet in your pocket as I bet the information they are selling is out there free on the internet. You just need to do a little bit more research.

6. Eggs in one basket – Look for different ways for making money on your website….diversify….find different programs. Doing research for this venture can go a long ways for reaching your goal.

If you create a website that has good content, updated frequently and keep building on that, you should not have problems making money online, true you won’t be able to retire anytime soon or make money overnight,,,,but don’t give up. Sometimes just when you think that it is not working…..BAM…there it is and you have found yourself in the search indexes of the engines.
