The reason that eBay is a good place to find profitable niche markets is that they have categories for everything that is sold.

When you take a look at the different categories (35 of them), they list all the subcategories under them and you can keep drilling down to find all the micro-niches within any area.

People look on the internet for information (or products) on how to solve their problems.

If you find (or have) a situation (or a hobby)  in which you can help people solve their problems, you can make money with a website.

eBay is not the only place to look for profitable website niche ideas.

Many beginners try to start making money online with trying to sell “how to make money online” products.

The bad idea of this is THEY have not made money yet.

Remember what I said before about what people look for on the Internet?

How about looking outside your door.

Do you live in a high tourist location?

Start a website of all the interesting things to do and even all the free stuff that people can do while there.

Are you finding ways to help the environment?

Write about what you are doing and explain to people what they can do also.

Extremely good with money?

Can you squeeze a dollar and get a dollar and a quarter out of it because of your spend-thrift ways?

Have a large family and found ways to cut back at the grocery store?

There are so many different ideas you can use to help you build a profitable website but you need to do research and see what would work for you.

There are still great profitable website ideas that have not been tapped into yet.

Easier said than done. But looking around the Internet enough at different forums you will see the same questions asked over and over again. Can you take those questions and create a website around them. Sometimes you may be able to, it just might take a lot of thought and seeking more information on the answers unless you are already able to answer the questions because you may have expert knowledge to be able to answer the questions that people have.

If you want to have an ecommerce website, take a look at eBay, Yahoo and Amazon and see what the hot sellers are. The only problem I see with trying to sell a hot seller is that many, many other people are also. Can you take a few of the hot sellers and see if they are continuous sellers? You don’t want to create a website or ecommerce store with ONLY the latest hot sellers as you will have to keep changing all the time and trying to keep up with the market. This can be very time consuming.

When you build your website, you definitely want to be able to add to it on a constant basis but I don’t think you want to have to update it every single day.. Heck, you can do that with a blog.

So then your thoughts may wander and you may need to decide if you want to actually create a site or just a blog to start out. You can make money using either one as there are many people that are doing that (making money blogging that is).

Even if you decide you want to blog to make money, you will still need to get traffic to your blog. The search engines do like them as they are updated (usually) very often, but you still have to put time into it.

If you think you can throw up a blog or website and make money right away, think again. Yes, you may be able to make a couple of dollars here and there, but if you really want to generate income on a regular basis you need to treat your website creation or blog as a business. Not necessarily a J.O.B, because if you enjoy working on your site or blog then it is not really work.

Most people do not want to give any ideas away for fear the idea will be picked up and used by someone else. I don’t have this fear as I knew before starting my website tutorial that it is a very competitive area, but I went ahead and built is anyway because I felt it was an area that needed more information added to it for beginners to learn ALL the steps in website creation.

To help you think of a niche: Look in forums, blogs, on the Internet, your family, co-workers, newspapers, in your home. Find a problem that other people are having and help them solve it.

Yes, I know that sounds simple but it does take research and thought. It may sound silly but keep writing paper with you (yes, even next to your bed) and write down thoughts as you think of them. Ok, be careful if you are driving, this is when I have my kids write down something quick for me. I did finally progress to a digital recorder and carry it with me at all times.

Granted you will not be able to compete with high money keywords – money, financial, cash etc..BUT you can look at some of the longer tails of ANY area and find some gold mines. It just may take a lot of research and thinking outside the box.

By using some of the ideas from the list you may be able to find a couple of niches to work in conjunction with one another. This I have found true for many areas but sometimes people do not think outside the box. If you are thinking of trying affiliate programs or getting into internet marketing you need to look at a big picture and try to keep the blinders off your eyes.
